Why I Created Seaworthy Stories.
For most of my life, I thought the adventure was in the destination.
The next island.
The next voyage.
The next dive.
But somewhere between the anchorages, the dive boats, and the long conversations under Caribbean sunsets, I realized something.
The most extraordinary discoveries were never the places.
They were the people.
Over the years I've met dive instructors who changed lives with a single discovery dive. Captains who quietly guided thousands of miles of ocean. Conservationists protecting reefs few people will ever see. Search and rescue volunteers answering calls in the middle of the night. Islanders, sailors, fishermen, scientists, and adventurers whose stories deserve to be remembered.
Many of them will never write a book.
Most will never appear in a documentary.
Yet their lives contain the kind of wisdom, courage, humor, resilience, and humanity that can inspire generations.
Seaworthy Stories was created to preserve those voices.
Part documentary.
Part conversation.
Part living archive.
My hope is that these stories inspire someone to take their first dive, learn to sail, protect a reef, chase a dream, or simply see the world through a wider lens.
Because every remarkable life leaves a wake.
And every wake tells a story.

Jan Ruley is a storyteller, creative director, sailor, diver, and founder of Seaworthy Stories.
For more than two decades she has built brands, created campaigns, and helped businesses tell their stories. But some of the most meaningful lessons of her life happened far from boardrooms and marketing plans.
They happened underwater.
They happened on sailboats crossing island passages.
They happened while sharing stories with captains, divers, conservationists, and island communities throughout the Caribbean.
Through Seaworthy Stories, Jan combines her love of documentary storytelling, ocean exploration, and human connection to preserve the voices of people whose lives have been shaped by the sea.
